One of the leading producers of chlor alkali products in the US
contacted Power Management Company to visit one of their Northeastern United States chemical plants to help them find ways to reduce their lighting energy usage.
A comprehensive lighting energy audit was performed by Power Management's LightSavers team who identified potential energy savings, and
created a lighting retrofit program for the facility.
Over 1000 T12 light fixtures were retrofitted with high efficiency T8 ballast, lamps and reflectors. About half these fixtures were 4
lamp T12 2x4 troffer fixtures. These were retrofitted with T8 ballast and 2 lamps with a reflector. The energy savings for this retrofit was over 66%.
This retrofit project also removed half of the ballast and lamps in each fixture, which also reduced maintenance costs.
The annual energy removed from the facility was 644,408 kWh at a savings of $32,220. The effective cost of the project was $104,800 for
a pay back of 2.8 years. The total kWh saved was over 63% annually.
